We invite your participation in the coming Forum on Migrations and Borders, to be celebrated March 15-17, 2011 in Haiti, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
The forum is to be a space for discussion and sharing a structural analysis of migration and the realities of immigrant workers throughout the world. We will focus specifically on Haiti, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines and will host representatives of organizations from these three countries.
An additional objective of the Forum on Migrations and Borders is to create and deepen bonds of solidarity among organizations in Haiti and Dominican Republic, and to establish connections between the movements of these two countries in an International Alliance of Migrants.
The organizations putting together this forum are: Justicia Global, Liga Socialista de Trabajadores and Partido Comunista del Trabajo in the Dominican Republic; the Network of Organizations in the Western Zone of Haití (ROZO); el Colegio de Abogados y Abogadas de Costa Rica and the Mirabal Sister Cultural and Community Center and Philippine Forum in New York. It is our desire to have wide participation in this forum in order to debate and build an analysis that can lay the foundation for future collective actions in defense of the rights of immigrants around the world.
In San José, Costa Rica, the event will take place Tuesday, March 15; in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on Wednesday, March 16, and in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Thursday, March 17.
